fabric bookmark tutorial

Recently I bought a few sewing books that I'm really excited about. I thought I'd make some bookmarks to mark my page in the books and thought I'd take pictures while I go along.

Supplies
2 coordinating fabrics cut 3" x 8"
heavyweight pellon cut 2" x 7"
coordinating thread
pins
scissors

Take your two coordinating fabric pieces and place them right sides together. Then iron one end of them back about 1/4 inch so that the very ends will show the right sides of the fabric.

Sew along 3 edges, pivoting at the corners. Do not sew along the edge you turned out. Cut your corners like so. This will be helpful when you turn your bookmark right side out.

Insert your heavyweight pellon. This was the hardest part, but I found that if I folded in half and then inserted it, it was much easier.

This is what your bookmark will look like once you've inserted your pellon. Now topstitch close to all four edges, pivoting at the corners.

You're done! Wasn't that easy?!
