Minnie Mouse Apron

Last year, Disneyland was letting guest get in for free on their birthdays. Since Stacie and I just happen to have the same birthday, November 26th, (kind of happens like that when you're a twin) we thought it would be fun to go just the two of us. We'd shop all we want, have lunch without anyone spilling milk or entertaining babies while waiting for food, and go on some big kid rides. I was mostly excited about having a relaxing day without kids! Don't get me wrong, I love them to death, but a day without them is needed every once in a while. And it had been a while.

We mostly shopped. While there, Stacie decided to redo her kitchen in a Minnie/Mickey theme. She got a bunch of really cute Minnie/Mickey kitchen utensils and other fun stuff.

While shopping, we saw this really cute minnie Apron. I looked at the price, and said, "I could make this"! I say that all the time. I showed the apron to Stacie, who also agreed that it was way cute! We also thought that we could make it even cuter! I told her I'm going to make one for our mom for Christmas next year in 2010. She then said, "Good. I'll make it for her for her birthday", which is 3 weeks before Christmas. I laughed because we're always trying to one-up each other, and she beat me.


Well, while on the way home, I was thinking about what to get Stacie for her birthday. I hadn't gotten her a gift yet and then the thought came to me. She got a bunch of really cute kitchen stuff while at Disneyland. Won't she need a matching apron?

So, I set out to make it for her. It was actually really easy to make. I didn't want to put the ruffle around the pocket, because I thought that would be too girly for Stacie. I got a minnie mouse embrodery applique on line, and put her name on it for that personalized touch. The only thing I wish I would have done differently is made the minnie bigger. She got it on Christmas, ony a month late, but she loved it. My mom also loved hers that I gave her for her birthday this year! (Ha ha beat that, Stacie!)
