A Crafter's Haven

This past week, I've had the opportunity to sit in my craft room, and sew. Not just sew a little here and there, but really put my time and effort into it. I'll tell you what, it was so much fun!

It all started here, while blog surfing earlier this week. I was on Disney's blog. Disney is a brilliant seamstress and crafter. I think I want to be like her when I grow up (lol). She had this really cute and simple skirt that she made for her daughter, that I just had to make for Sadie. This is where it all began. I used some fabric I had intentionally set aside to make Sadie a Valentine's Day dress with, but never got around to. Besides dealing with the tulle, it's probably one of the easiest skirts you'll come across to make.

After I was done with the skirt, I remembered I just recently bought the cutest Girlie Girl Bag pattern by My Sew Sweet Studio Designs. The fabric I got for it just happened to match the skirt I just made. Besides, don't all new skirts need a matching bag? So, I was off again sewing diligently away in seamstress heaven.

When I was done with both, I put it on her and tried to take pictures while waiting for Brayden to come home from school. I have to say she is not the most willing model. I paired the skirt with the T-shirt turned peasant top and a white sweater. I thought it was too much white though, and she didn't have any thing else that would match it, so off to the sewing room again....

this time to make a matching sweater in a lightweight jersey knit. To save time, I used my serger and did a rolled hem around the edge of it, instead of a traditional hem. This also gave it a ruffled look that I like.

To top it all off, I made matching bows. I just love having a little girl, let alone one that lets me dress her up, do her hair, and will wear the things I make for her. Thank you Sadie!
